I just can't believe that Israel gives the finger to the US, when we are their only true ally. We need to start getting tough with Israel. We need to start asking exactly what is it that the US gets out of our relationship with Israel. As far as I can tell, all we've gotten it grief and resentment from the Muslims in the region, which fuels terrorism against us, because of our one-sided support of Israel. Given that Israel clearly thinks they can thumb their nose at us, insult us, and do whatever the hell they want, even if it embarrasses us, tells me loud and clear that they need a hard lesson in the value we bring as an ally. I think we should rethink the $8B in loans and arms support we give them every year. Maybe this year we tell them we can't afford it, given our domestic economic malaise. That would teach them a lesson they will never forget again.

Israel's PM Vows to Continue Settlement Construction

www1.voanews.com

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue building settlements in Jerusalem, in spite of mounting opposition from the United States and other Western powers.

Mr. Netanyahu told parliament Monday that construction will continue in Jerusalem as it has for the past 42 years. Israel captured East Jerusalem in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and later annexed it -- a move not recognized internationally.

Newspapers on Monday quoted unidentified officials as saying the U.S. is pressuring Israel to cancel plans to build 1,600 homes in disputed East Jerusalem.

What does the CBO do with data that contradicts what Congress feeds it?

They are required to verify the data and use the most reliable source. For example the Treasury keeps track of its interest rates on the bonds it sells, if Congress data and the Treasury do not agree on the bond rates, the CBO would be wise to assume that the Treasury has the more accurate data.
