Apparently. Or maybe we'll just go straight to socialism and lower our standard of living preemptively so China can become the economic superpower and the socialists here can say "told you so."

China is to the US in the 2010s ...

as ...

______ was to the US in the _____.

We don't have to wait several decades. We're in TWO wars right now that are costing us massive amounts of money.

Iraq is going to cost OVER a Trillion before all is said and done and who knows how much Afghanistan will end up costing.

We're spending over $700 BILLION a year on our military. And that's CUMULATIVE (year after year).

The ONLY reason we can still service this giant debt we've wracked up is that "we're the only game in town" right now.

The 19th Century was the "Coal Century" and the British had a BUNCH of coal, the 20th Century was the "Oil Century" and we had a BUNCH of oil. The 21st Century seems to be the "Fiscal Responsibility Century" and the Chinese seem to be the ONLY ones that have a BUNCH of that (although there are people out there saying the Chinese have a LOT of underlying ROT on their books, so "who knows" if ANYBODY will have what it takes to succeed in today's environment.....
