France is and wants to be a big player in the region. I didn't know about their base in Abu Dhabi. Iran faces many enemies from all sides it seems, but even so, I would be extremely surprised if Israel proceeds to make war on its own, risking its own blood without the American umbrella. After all, Iran is not Palestine or Lebanon.

The US can have many such bases opposite Iran in the form of aircraft carriers and other capital ships. And, would Abu Dhabi place their infrastructure at risk of Iranian retaliation, be it immediate or in the future, if an attack was launched from their soil?
