Excellent find, Jim. Thanks.

Yet another example of the growth in underwater/submarine cable laying, which over the past couple of years has occupied a growing amount of real estate in the pages of subsea technology journals and trade publications. In your article, I thought the following line took the cake:

“Frankly, my dear, I don't want a dam.”

While reading through I was reminded of the hydrokinetic turbines spotted along the Missiissippi River, and how the transmission routes in those instances, leastwise up, down, feeders and tributaries, were ready-made. On the other hand, I suspect that riverbed trenching through the use of underwater ploughs might reveal through enviornmental impact analyses and statements more than anyone wishes to admit exists in some parts. It's probably a good time to be investing in the makers of horizontal boring rigs though ;)
