when Duke plays against certain teams I root for them, like against North carolina, while watch those games I notice Duke getting the calls and even though I'm rooting for Duke I'll say wow North Carolina got cheated on that call

I totally agree that everyone watches the game with his/her own built-in bias. Fans for opposing teams can watch the same game and both sides can come away feeling that the refs 'cheated' their team. (To be fair, though, sometimes the reffing can be bad enough that both teams are getting jobbed!). As I said, I don't really buy conspiracy theories, and a lot of the perceived favoritism for Duke may be resulting from what you are describing (i.e. bias from folks who just don't like Duke). But I really can't help feel that there is something there -- maybe it is just Coach K complaining so damn much that he gets more calls going his way than others? One big problem with Duke is that a central part of their defense is drawing offensive fouls. Hey, it works for them, and i guess I don't blame them for playing that way if the refs are giving them the calls. But it's just so lame, and one of the main reasons why lots of fans detest Duke (that, and the floor slapping -- fortunately, haven't seen much of that over the past few seasons).
