Why would anyone think Obama is not an American?

Why would anyone think that Bill Clinton murdered Ron Brown?

People are morons. Some are racist but most dont even need that to believe stupid things.

Not many people will admit publicly to being a rascist even though they may think so privately.

Can't disagree with that. Someone who is racist may well not make any racist remarks. But you can't draw any conclusions from that about the converse. You can't conclude from someone's failure to make racist remarks that any criticism he makes is racially motivated.

Typically when you call a politician a socialist it's because you think he's a socialist. Or it may be simply because you think that the characterization will damage him and you're not picky about how you win.

Overt rascism has largely been driven underground. Not many people will admit publicly to being a rascist even though they may think so privately.

In college I took a cultural anthropology class called "Racial and Ethnic Minorities." First day of class the prof asks everyone who is prejudiced to hold up their hand, so everyone in the class holds up their hand except for this one person from South Georgia, who says "I'm not prejudiced against black people, I just ignore them."

Bias (pro and con) is a cultural universal ... the introduction of the term "racism" complicates things on account of nobody knows what the hell it means.

True, but why that might explain lack of specific direct evidence for racism, it doesn't amount to evidence or racism.

Most people know Hawaii is in the United States. Most people were not born before Hawaii became a state. Why would anyone think Obama is not an American?

Its not an issue of thinking Hawaii isn't part of the US. They think that he wasn't born in the Hawaii (or anywhere else in the US). I personally see no evidence for that idea. Even if you believe all their claims about his birth certificate (and discount any documentation from Hawaii on this issue), it would still amount to lack of evidence, not evidence that he wasn't born in Hawaii and not born in the US.

I see a lot of points raised against the idea that there is proof that he was born in Hawaii, but I see no evidence at all, or even serious claims of evidence, that he wasn't.

Also even if he was not born in the US his "natural born citizen" claim would be ambiguous not certainly false.
