Or people are generally clueless about what "socialism" really means. I edited out the "(ignorantly)" I originally wrote because it doesn't really matter to the point whether he's really a socialist or not. Calling him one, whether correctly or not, isn't inherently racist. I have spent a lot of time arguing hereabouts that "socialist" is hype when applied to Obama. The conclusion I drew is that the people who use it just don't care whether it's valid or not. Same thing with "death panel" and the rest. They may or may not grasp the differentiation, mostly not, but in either case they just don't care.
