NASD Installs 3Com Corp. Network In Md. Facility

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Dow Jones)--The National Association of Securities
Dealers migrated the first of seven sites to
asynchronous-transfer-mode-to-Ethernet networks from 3Com Corp.
(COMS)

In a press release Tuesday, 3Com said the high-speed, 350-user network was
installed in NASD's new Piccard product development facility in Rockville,
Md., and will allow NASD to scale, extend and manage network growth.

3Com said NASD will extend the network to its new Rockville Key West
data center facility this quarter. This year, NASD will also implement the
3Com architecture at Diamondback, a Rockville development and
administrative site, and at a new Nasdaq Stock Market and NASD Regulation
facility in Washington.

In 1998, NASD will extend the network to its Washington headquarters and
district office, and an arbitration site in New York City, 3Com said.

3Com supplies data, voice and video communications technology.
