Hi all, this is a repost of a post I made on the Obama thread:

I must say that I am proud of Obama and the Dems in the past few weeks. I've been bitching and moaning about how spineless they have been on this Health Care bill, with Reid earning particular scorn from me. However, Obama has come out swinging and I really think he brought the bill back from the dead in the New Year, after the supposed knock-out punch from Scott Brown's election. So kudos to Obama.

Also, kudos to Pelosi. The fight hasn't been won yet, but Pelosi is proving to be an exemplary Democrat and fighting machine. She has enough spine to make up for all the other yellow bellied Democrats in Congress, including Reid.

So say what you will about the bill. I'm not 100% convinced it is the best bill that could have been passed. However, I have said all along that if they don't pass this thing then they will lose mightily in Nov and will be lame ducks for the next 3 years. I've also said that the Dems need to start pulling no punches to pass their agenda, just like the GOP did when they were in power. Americans like success. Get the bill passed and the polling numbers will rise. Looks like the Dems finally learned that message.

So what do I personally get out of all of this? Well, as I've said before, I don't really care so much about Health Care, except in the abstract sense. Rather, I care that we get PAST the health care debate, so that we can move on to other priorities, namely, energy legislation.

So here's to the Dems and the upcoming energy legislation battle. May the Dems have as much spine on energy as they have proven to have on health care. And may we see just as much progress on it as well. Cheers!

Will the bill really "turn America into a socialist country"? It's easy to laugh at this notion, of course, but let's look at it from another point of view. Even if that were correct, should you really sell everything and flee?

Socialism, or social democracy, or whatever else you want to call it, doesn't seem to have hurt stockholders overseas too badly.

Wow, that's very refreshing honesty.... As long as we can still make money, Socialism is no big deal.
