I think we are the only advanced western country with an operating philosophy that a certain % of our population can get dumped like trash by insurance companies. Everyone I have heard from in other countries thinks it's horrific. When you are sitting in a guaranteed plan already, it's easy to be cheap and indifferent about the rest of the population. I don't share that sentiment even though I will be under a guaranteed umbrella for life, as far as I know.
