The bill as it stands now is untenable with many conservative ideas of what a comprehensive HCR bill should look like (interstate competition among interstate providers, tort reform, removing the employer entanglement, means-testing Medicare) and the Democrats have made it clear they since they have a majority across both the executive and the legislative, they will ultimately get what they want, irrespective of any other non-core provisions that might get added on.

Opposition IS a pragmatic step at this point. Arguing like the offended spouse that if hubby gets a new new car, wifey gets a new wardrobe by Coco Channel, does nothing to resolve everything that is wrong with that car purchase.
