NEW YORK (CNNfn) - As part of its continuing efforts to accelerate the deployment of high-speed Internet access via set-topboxes, Microsoft Corp. is reportedly set to invest up to $1 billion in the cable television operations of US West. The New York Times reported Wednesday that the Redmond, Wash., software giant plans to buy up to 6.3 percent of US West's cable business, with the ultimate goal being to get high-speed data access for Microsoft's WebTV line of set-top boxes
