Some random thoughts as I read through the smtk thread. The stock price has had some recent significant runups as revenues have been growing exponentially. Still a net loss though. In recent weeks, smartalk has been buying prepaid card providers like crazy. The company seems to have great distribution access and it would seem wise for us to stay in close contact here for our products like the cellulars! Also,

SMARTALK is a member of the Telecommunications Resellers Association, International Telecard Association and the
Consumer Electronics Manufacturer's Association.

The Company is scheduled to announce earnings for third quarter ended September 30, 1997 on Wednesday, November 12
before the close of business. A conference call to discuss earnings will follow on Thursday morning, November 13 at 11:00
AM (EST). Please contact SME Financial Communications at 310-312-7880 for information on conference call participation.
(above copied from the SMTK thread).

Other random thoughts, it is rumored that an insider dumped 650,000 shares of smtk on 08/19/97. Does that date seem significant to anyone? hmmmm how about nearly 70 days ago. Maybe this person figured that the SMTK shareholders wouldn't like the issuance of 400,000 shares and figured dump now and pick them up again later.
Anyway, I think we have aligned ourselves with a winner and have done wonders for our balance sheet. Let's see what's next...hopefully not just rehashes of this but other significant news!!! Remeber, earnings around the corner too

OT: but if a corporation exchanged shares for, say, the rights to the copyrights from a song catalog, I assumed that that was considered to be an asset, but unrealized. Hence, it has the potential to generate revenue for the corporation, but would have to be sold or "exploited" to the extent that the corporation pulls in more than it paid out in the share value. Further, I assume that, if the corp. decides not to invest the time nor effort to exploit or attempt to sell the goodwill, then it writes it off over a period of time, thereby impacting the balance sheet. Am I getting close guys?

Thanks for your patience. Knew you'd want something to take your mind off of Mr. Murphy's handiwork. (ggGgg)
