I think your 3rd point is accurate, but that being the case, there are too many people on the dole to revolt if you will in a meaningful way. Now if the government couldn't meet it's commitments, that's when people's attitudes would change dramatically if they felt they had nothing to lose.

Agree. People around the area, and folks that I talk to in places like CA, Iowa, NC, etc are seething...and most of them aren't paying attention to the various opinions we do here....they are simply just strapped with costs, some without jobs, and no hope of finding any. The tax overloads are simply the last straw...
