I like your way of thinking. I'm less convinced that broadband to the sticks is as important as cheap, affordable, high speed broadband and high levels of penetration rates. The reason why I know this to be important is that I work in the industry and I routinely see the relationship between broadband availability and innovation. It's very similar to how the constantly increasing speeds of personal computers unleashed innovation that created a mountain of wealth for this country. We have to keep ensuring that the competition in the provision of broadband across the country remains vibrant, so that speeds and penetration will continue to go up and prices down. Broadband is very important to the economic prosperity of this country.

I can't quantify that for you, but I 100% know this to be true based on being in IT industry for the last 20 years.
