I'm worried about Iran too, but let's just remember that Iran was in check as long as their arch enemy, Saddam, was there to menace them. Bush took Saddam out and now we're dealing with the consequences. Honestly, I'm not sure what can be done about Iran, short of war. China is not willing to go tough with sanctions, so we're left to our own devices.

So the real question I have is exactly what strategy was the GOP following when they attacked Iraq? As far as I can see, it was a $1 trillion side excursion that distracted us from going after Al Qaeda. Now that Obama has refocused us on Afghanistant, there's been an almost daily drumbeat of Al Qaeda and senior Taliban members captured or killed in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. That is success. Bush and the GOP's strategy was flawed and brought us nothing but more debt from misguided wars.

In the meantime, Iran will become a nuclear power, the rest of ME will follow, the world will become more unstable than ever, and Mr. Obama will need to explain what his strategy has been to prevent that from happening....

The most effective way is to make oil cheap... a move to ultra efficient ICE autos and eventually electric. Nukes are expensive. And we are funding them with our oil consumption.
