You mean when he was a Dixiecrat conservative, before he renounced his racist was and said: I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened. Dixiecrats were definitely racists. Funny how they either all died or switched to the Republican party (see Strom Thurmond). The Democrats cleansed their party of racists, many who scurried over to the party of Lincoln - how ironic. Will the Tea Party cleanse themselves? Better to denounce and throw out the racists now while in their formative stage than to wait and be tainted.
