Just for the record, did the ever fair minded Greg Mankiw ask George W. Bush how he was going to pay for two wars? Maybe. I don't know. But the costs of this program are higher per year, and also last indefinitely. Beyond that spending too much in the past, makes additional spending more problematic not less. If one spouse splurges on a new luxury car, and the other is considering buying a vacation home, the fact that the money was spent on the car, hardly justifies or supports spending the money on the house.
