Why don't you ask him what could have consumed energy while you were out? The PS3 alone can't make that much of a dent but if you leave the TV on with a receiver and maybe a subwoofer , plus a computer on day and night I can see 1kw of consumption probably. And while you are at it crank up the heater, leave the windows and the fridge door open <g>.
