My usually unconcerned and politically ignorant son called me tonight just to chat about what has happened in the nation over the last few weeks. In his defense, he was out of town for 5 days doing serious work for his job and didn't have access to much news. He especially wanted to talk about the hc vote. I spent over an hour discussing it with him and brought him up to speed. His biggest concern is for his future children and for his 4 yr old nephew. It was he that said it looks like the dems are trying to destroy the American Dream. I told him I couldn't agree more with that assessment. It was a great conversation, and I'm really glad he called. I always thought I would be doing this for my youngest son first, so I was surprised and pleased that this son is finally taking a serious interest in more than just himself. I believe that is my primary duty as a parent now that he is an adult.
