The examples I have given you have clearly shown that if gov't did not step in, change and innovation would not have happened. They show nothing like that, and can show nothing like that. That's not a limitation just on you, its a basic limitation of reality. You don't get to run controlled experiments to see what would happen with different choices. Showing what did happen, doesn't tell us what would have happened had things been done differently. Take $X for the project you see as beneficial, and you get Y result. Don't do it, and the money gets used somewhere else and you get Z result. We have actual evidence about Y, we can look at what happened. Z will always be an unknown, since it didn't happen.
