One of many of the things he said really resonated with me. He said you and Dad have been telling me this was coming, and to fight it, for years. I really didn't realize my words were sticking like glue, and I hadn't given that particular lesson a thought, but he's right, and it has paid off. Both of my sons are staunch conservatives.

Interestingly, the entire reason for the call was so that he could be better informed when talking politics with his peers and was calling to ask if I'd help.

Of course, I was more than glad to be of assistance. ;)

You're doing better with your son than I am with mine.

I have been lucky with mine. I was very openly Libertarian and just answered questions as they came up. Never preached. They are all Libertarian and so are my Grandchildren. My wife was the same, so they got one POV at home from either of us.

It's a lot easier road to follow for children than Conservatism because it's more consistent. For instance, on drinking and drugs, you have to be more logical than just saying, "they are illegal!" You don't come over as an "old fogy" to your kids.
