All you have is an argument from authority... I've always suspected the libertarians were at heart an delayed rebellion against authority. Maybe we should refrain from the spending, so we don't have to pay for it. Maybe this country would be third world if we "refrained from spending". Every successful country in world history had a strong central government, yes high taxes and big government spending. Including the USA. You want low taxes and government services go to Haiti or Somalia. Humans are the most "socialist" animal on the planet. It's our basic nature... we nurture and support each other and that raises the entire species. It's been our key to success. And then there have always been the selfish ones... but ultimately they lose to the "common good". This seems like a perfect example.
