real gold is still so unpopular, and its genuine worth is capped by massive but fake paper gold

gld, otoh, is supposedly paper certificates on real but, whatever it may eventually mean, undeliverable gold

i find the entire gold complex, from physical in vaults to dirt in mines, charted and not, and further complicated by all manner of derivatives at each link of the chain, mysterious, and potentially dramatic

the physical just feels right

sometime i make delivery to kindred spirits of the physical in a fanny pack, and return with same pack full of paper money, and i report, walking on busy street with such a bag slung over should packing gold and paper feels different, in the latter case, a walk style holding back a swagger, in the former instance, an ambling stance hiding a bounce

“I am not convinced about the need for massive spending cuts. As soon as economic growth resumes, a lot of the red ink will disappear. I suspect both the political and the economic reality is that after the election, somehow the really big cuts won’t happen.”

This is the mistake they are making.
