I lived near Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. It is beautiful.

My favorite time of year in the Blue Ridge Mountains is the first day of spring. As far as the eye can see in the winter everything is gray. Gray rock outcropppings are everywhere. Grey bark. Gray fog. You go to bed every night and the next morning it is just as gray.

Then one morning you wake up. You look outside and as far as they eye can see everything is green. All the leaves just sprouted overnight. It is a celebration of life. You can feel the fresh oxygen in the air and everyone's outlook just gets that much better.
