Big government is by necessity a "one-size-fits-all" solution. This country is a federal republic of states for a good reason. No way you can have a "one-size-fits-all" solution for a country as big and diverse as America. That fits in with the public's view that Washington is increasingly out-of-touch with the rest of America. That also fits in with America's right-of-center political views.
