"Actually "God " is pretty fickle on these matters."

Well, not really. It mostly depends on whose definition of "god" is being used. Zeus, Raa, and Thor worked pretty consistently for those who defined them, and when different religions make their own definitions of the same entity (Jehova, G-d, Allah, Catholic God, Baptist God, Pentecostal God, etc), they can make the definitions apply as they choose. No fickleness at all for those who provide the definitions. The one thing everyone can be sure of is that "their god is on their side."

In fact, throughout history, it has been worth fighting wars to prove it.

Re:"Actually "God " is pretty fickle on these matters."

Specially for Jewish people, as written in the Talmud:

Bava Metzia 59b & continued (Rabi Steinsaltz)

1) Rabbis no longer “pay attention to heavenly voices”
2) God must submit to a “majority vote” of the rabbis, “even where God himself holds the opposite view”
3) God admits rabbis defeated Him with their arguments.

can you have a more flexible God?

It's not that God is fickle...

we just want to conjure him up and have him do things the way we think is proper.

In the New Testament we are told"

"If God be for us, who can be against us"

OTOH

If God be against us, who can be for us.
