Amazing what you can find out here. I had no idea Compaq was using VIA chipsets in some of there deskpro units. Now I rather curious who is making the motherboards for thses computers.

The chip was originally based on the Cyrix 586 which has already been used in notebooks by IBM. The 586 however ended with a P rating of about 90. Through reworking of the chip and the sister Cx5510 chip, speed ratings of 233+ (even 300) are possible. 200 Mhz by the end of the year. The design will give way to the MediaMX next year with a MX core even though the GX will like still be produced for certain applications.
