Yes with a different election system, alternative voting (also called "Instant-runoff voting") or some other method, or having a government where congress is selected by proportional representation, or perhaps some other change, could make a third party (or many parties) much more viable.

But the odds are we will not get such a change.

No voting method is perfect (see en.wikipedia.org and en.wikipedia.org ), but I'm not necessarily opposed to changing our method.

People, (including me) were VERY worried even back in 1992 about all the RED INK that Reagan and Bush I had wracked up.

Then I suppose you are now really worried about Obama.
