I would tell them that Obama is spending the money now. Part of his "jobs" Bill allows employers not to pay SS on new employees for at least a year.

Part of his first stimulus was a reduction in payroll taxes.

Blame Bama. he is spending it now on Turtle bridges, airport for a dead congressmen etc etc etc

That doesn't really have any connection to my point. Sure the recipients want the spending, and may vote out people who reduce it, but that doesn't change the point that its government spending like any other government spending, or address the issue that the whole idea of the SS trust fund is almost meaningless.

That tax cuts where for almost all federal income tax payers, and where not spending anything.

The Iraq war was only a small part of the spending by the US government since the war started, and its also temporary spending unlike entitlements, so its tiny compared to the unfunded entitlement liability.
