Bush came in with the clinton recession and then 911.

Tax cuts worked. Bush's problem is that he tried to cross "the aisle" and got burned. He is a man that had too big of a heart to NOT spend money.

In the end, he spent too much money and the Republicans paid for it. His work after 911 will be remembered. His work in Africa on aids will be remembered. Others things like liberating millions of people..signing a partial birth abortion ban bill...which was undone almost immediately by the no class obama....

If you want to criticise someone for failing to pay down the debt you had better start with Clinton. Every time there was an unexpected surplus he frittered it away on his favorite agenda items.
