Germany has two elements that periphery do not. Critical mass and the planetary keiretsu: Producing where it matters EU from 1986 to 2005 was important to Germany as periphery modernize their economies and bought Germany's exports. The whole situation changed in this decade: Trade between Brazil and Germany has grown some 185 percent from 2003 to 2008, jumping from $7.3 billion U.S. to $20.9 billion. Europe matter s less the outside world matters more. Thus, Germany will look towards the world outside Europe to keep its economic standing.
