The takeover of student loans is to be able to forgive them or promise some jelly beans prior to the 2012 election. Need to get the young people in the habit of government assistance and secure their loyalty.

Yeah, unfortunately, with the poisoned atmosphere in Congress, this seems to be the only way to get things done.

I'm for throwing out the filibuster entirely, no matter who controls the Senate. The House already has, because they realized they couldn't get anything done with it.
