Prior to Vatican II, Catholics couldn't eat meat on Fridays. It's now optional, with the exception of Lent where more emphasis is put on not eating meat on Fridays, but it doesn't rise to the level of being a sin.

Not all Muslims are hard core Islamists. If they choose to drive in the U.S., then they have to follow the laws and buy insurance.
