There are knee-jerk liberals and knee-jerk conservatives. Both think they have direct lines to god and cloak themselves in self righteousness.

Because I live in a liberal area I'm inclined to agree that conservatives are more civil, but I'm not so sure this is true. If they feel they are the overwhelming majority it just might be true that either group is capable of great incivility, human nature being what it is.
