On marketing:

I was doing some of my usual research in the usual top ten catagories on the NASDAQ site this morning. I ended up doing a quick read of the Ultrafem 10K. That this company is not a tech stock goes without saying but the marketing detail contained in the SEC filing was remarkable.

NOVELL MARKETING EXECS WOULD DO WELL TO READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With an annual advertizing budget of about $26 million they were able to achieve 67% name recognition in an initial target area that covers 24% of the United States!!!

When you consider that I am of a gender that has no use for INSTEAD and have seen so many ads that I know about the product, and that I'm on a computer daily and never see any ads for Novell, it is unbelievable! When you also consider that the entire market for Ultrafems' products is less than Novells' annual sales a few years ago, it is unforgivable!

IR claims Novell can't afford a mass market ad campaigne. I say this is clear proof that Novell can easily and comfortably afford to mass market their products and probably do it for less than they are currently spending.
