It makes no sense to him to sit down with a little card and pen and spend money on stamps. And he doesn't see why it makes it "nicer" or more "personal"..

And he's absolutely right. God how I hated writing thank-you notes. I don't handwrite them today unless I really don't want the recipient to be able to read it.

Actually, I enclosed TWO thank you notes...

One on "Man-Type Stationery" (a Post-It).

The other was a beautiful card from the LTH to the "Earring Lady". They're both class acts.

Writing thank you notes is truly a dying art. Pen and Paper will be around for a while, but.... Maybe someday we'll treat people who can write at National Treasures...keep a couple of them around the way Japan keeps its last few swordmakers.

Re thank you notes:

If I were a G-Mom, I would be pleased to get an e-mail thank you note! I'd be pleased to get any thank you note. I'd be pleased to be a G-Mom...

The note was not from bob but from the recipient of the jewelry. Really good manners! I'm not good at notes but have my present-receiving list down to a precious few at this point, so that I don't have that chore any more. The holidays are always a mess for me - between being a busy business time and a busy family time, I go nuts. If I lived in Texas where there would be greater expectations of me (I'm still shuddering remembering the corsage story), I would be in real trouble.

I'm busy now working on a big piece for a commission, while my mind is imaging what my displays will look like at the pre-Christmas shows, usually seeing them empty. That is, empty because I don't have enough work made up, not empty because I sold it all.

Adam? Christian? No wonder your boys go by Ammo and CW, it would sound like damned Pilgrim's Progress if you didn't. What was next... Bunyan? Eve?
