Of course they get freebies. Doesn't make them obligated to recommend the drug.

One doctor I know just takes the freebies because, well, why pass up on free stuff? She still recommends the generics.

Many doctors, of course, will be influenced, and that kind of influence is indeed bad for the industry. But to change that is rather difficult. And I guarantee you that with the passage of Obamacare, it's going to be even tougher to change it now that Big Pharma is deeper in the pockets of politicians than ever before.
