True. I started as an engineer in silicon valley in 1990 and recall how elite (bad word in some quarters I know) the internet was back then. Barriers to entry were high and thus to get access you had to be both motivated and educated.

It's been interesting watching the change over the past couple decades. But even though it's sometimes painful to watch, it does give you exposure to a part of the population that otherwise you'd never run across. That's probably a positive, inasmuch as knowledge is never a bad thing.
