This is an interesting scenario.

My Son's fiance's Mother developed a heart condition in her mid 50s and her medical coverage was dropped by her provider. She tried getting coverage from other private health care providers but was turned down by all of them. She managed to land a job with the post office and is now covered by their provider. She pays $600.00 month for that privilege. She has a $20.00 copay for doc visits and no deductible.

She probably pays $1000.00 yr for very good medical care which includes vision and dental.

OTOH we pay $515 month for catastrophic hc coverage (without vision and dental) with a $10,000.00 deductible and pay for all but our annual physicals (no lab tests included) until we reach that magic $10,000.00 figure.

My future dil was outraged that her mother had to pay $600.00 month (for herself and her husband) for her hc coverage, until I explained that her mother is being subsidized by millions of private citizens, and now understands a lot better why the average tax payer is outraged.

Future DIL was also just told by her employer that her "contribution" to her hc coverage is going to double starting immediately.

She voted for The One and is really, really po'd.
