"The cost to taxpayers of that 28 percent benefit is about $665 per person. The cost to taxpayers of equivalent Medicare coverage is about $1,200 per person."

But is that a bug? Or is it a feature?

Dumping retirees off their employer-provided health benefits? All part of the master plan!

Via HotAir: ObamaCare threatens employer-provided drug benefits.

…The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.

…Figuring out what it will mean for retirees will take longer, but analysts said as many as 2 million could lose the prescription drug coverage provided by their former employers, leaving them to enroll in Medicare’s program.

Ed Morrissey writes:

Congress passed the bill without knowing what was in it. Barack Obama signed it without reading it. Now it looks as though the Associated Press reported on ObamaCare without comprehending its content.

Ah, but: is that a bug? Or a feature?

If companies across the U.S. start dumping benefits they previously provided, how will Democrats respond? With a slapping facepalm? "Aw, dang! We didn't mean to do that!"

Or will they demonize those businesses as greedy, uncaring, willing to throw their employees and retirees to the wolves in the name of Almighty Dollar? Will they use the ObamaCare-made drug-benefit dumping to call for even more governmentalization of health care? Bigger government. More tax money. Greater government control over the private sector.

Bingo!

Was it a mistake? Or all part of the plan?
