I was driving to the Cities this morning and a caller into to Bennett's show made a startling and reasonable prediction. Said the democrats will be going after immigration reform next because it's a fantastic wedge issue that will separate the Republican base from the party elites. I think he's right (though Bennett quickly changed the subject). Nothing can deflate the base and keep them at home in November better than the spectacle of Graham and McCain working with the democrats on amnesty in September and calling the base a bunch of racists for not joining them.
