Surplus? Where in hell did you get THAT idea?

Don't even bother. I proved you wrong on this once before. The national debt has increased every year for decades. You and I had this argument a year ago.

Is this something I have to prove you wrong about on an annual basis, or what?

If you mean billions, its almost a rounding error in terms of government spending, if you mean trillions, we never had anything that approached $5tril in surpluses.
