ThinkProgress is dead wrong about this.

Let me repeat: Health insurance is just the middle man. They cannot control costs anymore than a car insurance company can tell the shops to lower how much they charge for parts and labor.


Okay. What's one of the biggest reasons hospital costs are going up?

But, health insurers a a middle man that adds NOTHING to the quality of your care. It could be soundly argued that health insurers DETRACT from your care, by denying claims and dropping sick customers. Then, there's the as much as 30% overhead for the clerks denying claims and booting sick policyholders, for the profits of the company and the bonuses for the executives.
