Mish when comparing the debts of various EU countries then you must include also the Muni bonds of the US to get a more harmonized picture, as the Muni market includes debt issued based on GO of the various states and in certain cases the cities.

Fact is that the market prices of US 10 year notes, are priced at a higher yield than Spain during the last week.

Spain's central bank said it forecasts Spain's budget deficit will be equal to 10.2% of GDP in 2010 and equal to 8.9% of GDP in 2011 - in general terms, not much different than the US but in actuality the US deficit is higher.

Comparing the US and EU economies is like comparing two ugly creatures and decide who is uglier.

IMHO because the current administration fully supports the thieves and swindlers on WS the US is the more UGLY state, hands down from a integrity and morality point of view.
