The matter of the charge for disposing of the shares has been resolved, following a call from IIROC to the broker. I had to fill out a form indemnifying the broker and the trasnsfer agent, in case the shares should be valuable in the future. What a joke. Response from John Baird's office was useless and merely repeated the CRA regulation. I am currently waiting a response from CRA on the Kafkaesque tax I was charged for the non-qualified investment in my RRSP account. Yes, it does not qualify as an investment.
