Another basic axiom of the WH is that we cannot risk war with Iran. That is why we see all the appeasement. Why they refused to go for a regime change last year is beyond me. The uprising in Tehran was a perfect excuse. I well remember the 56 spring uprising in Hungary. I had just got back from the Army in Germany when it happened. If Ike has sent in a combat command from Germany with some air support not only would Hungary have won, but the whole Eastern Europe slave state system would have collapsed. The Soviets would have NEVER faced down Ike. Instead, he spent his effort on forcing England and France to cave to Nasser over Suez.
