Exactly my point. Sometimes it is important to know the source.

If its a simple assertion of very specific data, that you can't check yourself, than yes I would consider the source important.

But for issues of logic, or less formal reasoning, or methodology, the source doesn't matter much if at all. And in terms of just accepting a conclusion arguments based on the source (either arguments from authority or ad hominem statements) are weak at best.
