OK. Then let's not count what you consider vapor. Let's count good solid debt. Here's the current picture.



Obama's debt is higher now, but it doesn't significantly change the fact that most debt has been accrued under Republican Presidents, most notably Bush Jr.

You can't reasonably treat such projections as if they have a solid basis in reality, but that's exactly what you are doing.

They are useful for comparing one proposal against another as the same methodology and assumptions are used in each but, as you say, they aren't reality.
