the point missed by many is that the far worse crime is the constant cover ups by catholic management. that sin has been there and is there right now. protect those who commit heinous crimes against children. that's what they did, that's what they are doing. that's EVIL. nobody is saying that management can control each and every priest. but they can control themselves and not protect criminals and endanger other children en masse. yet they protect EVIL and endanger other children. my guess is they do it to protect their image, not because they enjoy doing it, but the end result is exactly the same.
